ICCX Russia 2009

The fifth ICCX Russia was held from 8th to the 10th of December 2009 at the Hotel Park Inn Pulkovskaya in St. Petersburg, attracting 600 delegates and close to 90 exhibitors. The good attendance and the high status of delegates from the Russian industry indicated the recovery of the Russian industry after times of economic slowdown.

Der servo-gesteuerte Roboterarm mit den drei Doppelgreifarmen f�hrt aus der Ruheposition zur Aufnahmestellung der Styroporkerne. Der Roboterarm �bernimmt die durch das Seitenf�rderband zugef�hrten sechs Kerne und f�hrt in Warteposition, w�hrend eine Palette mit sechs frisch gefertigten Isolierbl�cken aus der Maschine bef�rdert wird.

Der Roboterarm positioniert nun die sechs Kerne auf dem Servicewagen, dann werden die sechs Kerne in die Steinformmaschine hineingefahren. Die Form der Steinformmaschine wird abgesenkt und der F�llwagen beginnt den Produktionsprozess.

It was against a global backdrop of economic and social uncertainty that Intermat 2009 drew to a close on 25 April. But the 8th Intermat exhibition, which was held from 20 to 25 April 2009 at Paris-Nord Villepinte, stayed on course. There was at least one piece of good news for the international Intermat exhibition as the economic downturn takes its toll. The great efforts put in by the exhibitors to maintain the high quality of their stands, the numerous events and specific welcome services as well as the support provided from the visitors and international partners all ensured that Intermat was able to keep its status for the whole sector as the international platform for discussion and business.

Treatment of imperfections in precast structural elements

At its meeting in Athens in 2003, FIB Commission 6, �Prefabrication�, created Working Group 6.8 on �Treatment of imperfections in precast structural elements� to draft a paper on the state of the art of treatment of flawed concrete members. Imperfections in precast structural elements are inevitable and everyone involved in the process should know how to proceed when they occur. Many such flaws can be regarded to be deviations in quality, while others are not ordinarily included in the acceptance criteria established by customers or the existing legislation.

Sealing systems for pipes and manholes

Sealing Systems for concrete pipes and manholes have to meet high requirements. The gaskets have to guarantee a sealing for the whole lifetime by means of contact pressure. To avoid a leaking gasket, they have to create sufficient sealing widths. In addition, the pipe connection should of course be easy to install. To be able to meet all requirements, the material and geometry of the gasket has to be adjusted exactly to the needs of every single pipe or manhole plant.

The ICCX Oceania took place in the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre from 31 March � 2 April 2009. With the delegate numbers reaching 400, this event showed that even in times of economic crisis the precast industry is not loosing its focus on new developments in material and production technology in Oceania. Preceding the ICCX, three technical courses on the topics of self compacting concrete, design of precast building structures, and modern precast production planning were presented. The conference itself included sessions on self-compacting concrete, concrete products, precast technology, concrete pipes, sustainability, modern concrete materials, concrete durability, and architectural concrete. In the trade fair, about 70 national and international exhibitors showcased their machinery, services and goods.
